Everyone loves a souvenir!

2 posts in 1 day, whew!
I always have ideas brewing in my head and a million projects going at once. I just thought I’d share them with you.
When I was little we always got a souvenir when we went on vacation. Do I have any of that stuff anymore? Little or none.
I still love to get souvenirs, but they’re so expensive and usually not heirloom quality. Since Nathan was a baby we started collecting pennies from the pressed penny machines. Over the last 4 1/2 years during our extensive travels we’ve collected quite a few (12 to be exact). I just taped them in scrapbooks and forgot about them.
On a recent trip to California, I decided to do something else with them. Why not put them in frames?
(Its hard to tell in the picture, but I used shadow box frames with scrapbook paper that matches my decor for the background.)
The kids have fun scouting out the machines. There are usually 2 or 3 choices to make, so they each get to make one. The best part is that they only cost$.50 plus a penny. The kids are happy because they got to crank the machine, I’m happy because I got a souvenir to add to my collection that I can keep forever, and when mom’s happy everyones happy, so that covers dad.
Stay tuned for more of my ingenious ideas…

What a great idea! We struggle to find something for Clare when we are out on trips….and end up coming home with more crapt than necessary.

Cute! I think I tried to remember to do that, but then I lose the pennies. Our ‘thing’ is a patch from everywhere and I sew it onto A.P.’s backpack for school, which he will like for about another year before he is too cool to use a backpack with patches on it.

I do the patch thing too and sew it on my backpack that I usually take on outings with us. Sometimes I have a hard time finding patches, though.
Best patch ever…Bell’s brewery.

We have always been avid “patchers” as well. Unfortunately I now have to huge beach bags covered in patches and extra patches sitting around. Do I want to go for a third? I was thinking about taking them all off and putting them on a quilt, next!

I do ornaments. Half the time, I forget to date them though and that bums me out. Still I love collecting them.

Yep, I do the ornament thing too.
Ricardo always says all I want to do on vacation is shop and sleep. This makes me a bad person, why?
