Sunday Night Recap

So it will become apparent that I am addicted to trash TV, ie- reality TV. My case is that there is nothing else on to watch. (I would still be a reality junkie if Grey’s etc were not in rerun.)

Rock of Love II-This show is a total trainwreck and completely degrading to women. However, they didn’t need to sign up and wear little to no clothing. I’m just curious as to what the deal is with Catherine.
I know that she and Bret are probably the same age, but it doesn’t seem as though “born in the same decade” is something he’s looking for. I guess we’ll see if he keeps her around for the next couple of weeks.
My favorite is Peyton, but she’s definitely not slutty enough. In fact he even said he liked her in a sort of “friend that you can jam with” kind of way.

Scott Baio is 46…and no longer pregnant!

Thank goodness. This hardly falls under the category of “reality TV.” It seems awfully set up.

Hopefully there will be a more positive spin on the show rather than all his negativity towards matrimony and child rearing.

Big Brother

My first question is how come every guy with a slight build hangs out with their shirts off all the time? Even if Ricardo got in shape for Mr. Universe, I doubt he’d hang out with his shirt off all the time. There’s something unenjoyable about staring at someone’s nipples for an hour.

I used to be pulling for Jen and Ryan to win because of their secret. I still like him, but not here. I don’t have a favorite picked at all yet. Usually I have someone picked right off the bat.  I think its hard to choose, because they are couples instead of individuals.  Maybe after the POV, I’ll be able to pick a couple.

Tulips

rose.jpg
Ricardo surprised me with a bouquet of tulips last night. He’s not much of a flower guy and he knows I really like tulips. I can’t even tell you the last time I got flowers for any reason. Plus he knew I would be mad if he over payed for roses that I don’t really like anyway. Thanks Sweetie, even though I don’t think you ever read my blog!

Do you know what’s better than roses on a piano?
Tulips on your organ!

That’s a Ricardo joke…obviously.

Holy Valentine’s Day, Batman

batman.jpg
At our house we are obsessed with superheroes. The kids love to play “bad guys” and dress up. Unfortunately I wasn’t on the ball enough to buy clearanced superhero costumes after Halloween.
So, the kids will have to settle for these primitive ones I made. Gay superhero sidekick mask included!capes.jpg I’ll give them to them tomorrow for Valentine’s Day as we start our 6 days with no school. What am I going to do?

Colorful Valentine

In addition to the store bought Spiderman valentines Nathan will be passing out. We also made some cool crayons. I think I got the idea from Family Fun Magazine, but they used heart shaped soap molds. I used a miniature muffin pan.

1. First I sprayed the pan with nonstick spray. The pan was nonstick and the crayons are waxy, but I did not want crayons getting stuck in the pan!
2. Then we peeled the paper off of all the broken and dull crayons and broke them into little pieces. They were divided amongst the holes. They were sort of strategically placed, because I wanted a little variance in color.

3. I had the oven preheating to 350. I put the pan in for 3 minutes, but I would watch it. As soon as they’re all melted take it out immediately. Otherwise, you’ll just have a brown mess.
4. I let them cool for a couple of hours. They start to pull away from the sides as they cool. All you need is a sharp knife to lift them out.

According to a handout I got last week, these crayons are great for working on hand muscles for writing.

Pay It Forward

Overwhelmed with Joy is hosting her Pay it Forward book exchange again.
These are the guidlines…Here are the guidelines for my Pay It Forward Book Exchange.

Most all of us love to read and get “new-to-us” books, right? And if you’re anything like me, you love winning things (what a rush), not to mention getting fun stuff in the mail! So here’s what this book exchange is all about:

1) On the first Monday of each month I’ll pick a couple of books to give away to two lucky readers (you don’t have to have a blog to enter). It may be a book that I’ve purchased new or used, or it may be a book that someone has shared with me that I really like. It’ll probably be a paperback, just to make things easier, but no guarantees.

2) Details on how you can enter to win will be listed in each monthly post.

3) If you’re the lucky winner of the book giveaway and you have your own blog I ask that you, in turn, host a drawing to give that book away for free to one of your readers, after you’ve had a chance to read it (let’s say, within a month after you’ve received the book). If you mail the book out using the media/book rate that the post office offers it’s pretty inexpensive. If you’re a non-blogger who has won the book, please consider donating the book to your local library or shelter after you’re done with it.

4) If you’re really motivated and want to host your own “Pay It Forward” giveaway at any time this month, feel free to grab the button above to use on your own blog. Just let me know so I can publish a post on my blog plugging your giveaway and directing my readers your way!

So there you have it, my Pay It Forward Book Exchange, designed to encourage people to read, to share good books, to possibly get you out of your reading comfort zone, and to get fun stuff in the mail instead of just bills!

I am participating in the book exchange with the book Prep.preppbsmall.jpg
I enjoyed it ok. It was the first book I’ve read in a long time!

Adios 1980’s

Poor Nathan is the last one to have his room redecorated since we moved in last year. Besides me he’s the only one who cares. I’ve procrastinated so long, because two of the walls are coated in the worlds most outdated wallpaper. wallpaper.jpg
Yes my poor little boy has been staring at this for almost 9 mos. Oh the horror!
So on Sunday, we got out our sprayers and scrapers and got to work. I’ve scraped a lot of paper and tried a lot of methods. The thing that works best for me is just getting it really wet, and then start scraping. The kids thought it was the greatest thing to help, too!le-wallpaper.jpg
I’ll keep you posted on the outcome. It may take a few days to get it all scraped and the walls deglued. Hopefully I’ll be painting by this weekend.

The Demise

nosering.jpg

Today might have been the demise of my nose ring.

Its something I always wanted, so when we visited Hawaii 3 years ago I did it. It was the most painful thing ever!

I guess I’m just getting sick of it alway being infected from blowing my nose too much. So this morning I decided to take it out. I’m going to let the giant red bump on my nose heal and see where I go from there. I bought a different kind of nose ring on ebay that doesn’t involve the whole corkscrew thing. I doubt I would be able to get that back in by myself. I will keep you posted.

A Carb Loving Salesman

bread.jpg
We’ve entered the terrible two’s here at the 3 in under 3 house.
Oliver won’t eat anything but bread, crackers, and sugary cereal. He also will absolutely not take “no” for an answer. This might benefit him later in life, but right now he’s making me crazy.

We have a daily episode of him following me around for what seems like hours crying, “caca” (cracker). Oh the joys of motherhood. He even imitates Piper Ann when she has meltdowns. Right now he’s crying, “yee yee, yee yee.” He’s really upset that we haven’t left to get Nathan from school yet.

I need a drink.
