Spray Tan
Last week my mom came for a visit and vowed to be tan when she left.
I suggested cheating and trying the spray tan.
The experience for me was similar to childbirth. Obviously not the pain part, but when it was over I vowed never to do it again. A little time has passed and now I’m thinking, “I could do it again, it wasn’t that bad.” Another way it is similar to childbirth is that if you don’t wipe well, you’ll have streaks running down your legs!
My mom didn’t wipe off at all and after the concerned look on the clerks face, I decided to wipe off well! I guess I really didn’t wipe off as well as I thought. Some spray tan had puddled in my belly button and on my feet. Of course I didn’t realize this until the tan had cured and I had a really dirty looking belly button and feet.
The whole time is was getting sprayed in the booth trying not to inhale the vile brown spew, which was impossible, I kept thinking about the friends episode when Ross is in the tanning booth. Hilarious.
So my suggestions to you if you try the spray on tan is be able to hold your breath for a long time, put the barrier cream on your hands and feet like suggested, but also put it on the inner part of your forearms. Nothing is a giveaway like having tan forearms. The third suggestion is wipe off well!!
They’re Baack
Dear God,
I do occasionally feel bad that I don’t like my dog. He’s one more thing that I have to clean up after, but I get no hugs or “I love you mommy” in return.
So my question is…why do all these bad dog related things keep happening? He gets in the trash, sheds like crazy, kills the grass when he pees, poops in the house if not walked on a regular basis, and now we have fleas again. I mean its not really helping me like him any more. Can you “throw me a bone” here? I’ve tried giving him one, but it just causes him to have diarrhea and still get in the trash.
When I was 7 mos pregnant with Piper Ann our house became infested with fleas. I’m sure it was due to the fact that we had 4 animals and none of them were on any preventative medicine.
It was horrible. I would walk through the kitchen and my legs would be covered with fleas. When they bombed the house, it caused them all to recede away from the walls. Luckily we didn’t have carpet, so there weren’t many places to lay eggs.
Well last night Murphy was up all night shaking his neck which caused his collar to rattle. It also caused me to be up all night. I thought maybe he needed to be let out or somethings, so Ricardo checked on him.
Well, this morning I swore I saw something jump on the floor. At first I thought it was a fruit fly, because we have a lot of those as well. Then I put 2 and 2 together.
I didn’t see any other “jumpers” while I was vacuuming every inch of the main level, but I have a couple of bites on my legs.
Hopefully we’ve caught it soon enough to prevent the great infestation of ’04.
Coffee Addict?
I have tried so many times to like coffee. I’ve tried putting a bunch of sugar and cream in it and still it was bad.
This past winter I expanded my tastes buds and tried a White chocolate peppermint mocha. It was really good. I was shocked that I actually liked it. SInce its almost 500 calories I’m steering clear.
While my sister was in town this past weekend she got a skinny caramel mocha. she wouldn’t drink it because the caramel was sugar free. I took a sip and fell in love.
The good news is that its only 130 calories. The bad news is that I’m craving them now, but refuse to spend $4.00 or whatever it is for coffee.
What to do.
On a side note, I’m sure my friend Big BInder is kicking herself for not pushing the coffee issue harder with me. I would have been up for a lot more “lets go get coffee while the kids are at school!”
No Big Deal
As you know I went to the dentist and had some really minor trouble spots that she thought should be cleared up before they got worse.
I went back on Friday to have some work done that was “no big deal.”
I’m recommending to all dentists out there to not be so free with the terms “no big deal,” and “we don’t even need to use novacaine.”
Let me just tell you that the “staining” that needed to be taken care of ended up being a little deeper than originally thought. The dentist was drilling into my tooth with no numbness. After wincing a few times, she stopped and asked if I would like some novacaine. HMMM, let me think about that one. Uh, ya!
Of course she didn’t wait long enough for the numbing to take place, but at that point I just wanted it to be over with. I thought I was pretty tough.
I guess its just a lesson learned that you shouldn’t skimp on dental visits.
Freedom!!
My brother is a free man. Finally!
It went by pretty quickly, for me anyway!
My mom came into town to be there when he got out. His release time was 7am. We all got up at 6 and left the house at 6:30…kids and all.
When we got to the jail Nathan started crying because he thought we were going to see all the scary bad guys, but I reassured him that we would just be in the lobby. As we walked into the door there were two security guards standing outside and the one said to me,” I think you’re in the wrong place.” I said, ” no we’re not, my brother’s getting out of jail today!”…in the cheeriest voice possible.
We joked that he probably thought we were looking for the Galleria (a nearby mall), and ended up there because we certainly didn’t fit in with the usual visitors.
We ended up waiting for over 1 1/2 hours. Nathan thought we were going to take guns and shoot the lock on the cell and rescue him.
When he finally came through the door it was so good to finally be able to hug him!
Its amazing the things we take for granted. He hadn’t seen real sunlight or felt fresh air for 6 mos. He also hadn’t had any fresh fruit or vegetables in 6 mos.
I think I’m going to gain 30 lbs helping him fulfill all his cravings of food he’s missed. We had Chinese food twice in 1 day.
Now he has a fresh start. Keep him in your prayers that he embraces the fresh start!
Rain Out
Today was the big day that Ricardo was going to take off work to take the kids to Six Flags.
After watching the weather report we decided against taking 3 kids 5 and under to an amusement park in the rain.
Ricardo came up with the idea of going to Crown Candy Kitchen and then the City Museum.
Of course at Crown Candy we split two milkshakes between the 5 of us. It was plenty. The kids also each left with a giant rainbow sucker.
The City Museum was way sensory overload for the kids, but they ended up having a great time. Some of their favorite parts were the toddler room where they went down the slide of tubes. I don’t know how to describe it other than it was like how they transport packages in a UPS warehouse.
They also liked the ramps that you could run/slide up and down. Ricardo and I like that too. We had to laugh at the dad who wore kneepads to the museum for that specific attraction. He was way sweatier than any of the other kids.
The train was also a big hit, but they had to let Piper Ann off half way through because she was scared. It goes through an area thats only lit up by blacklights.
It took a little bribery, but they did the 2 or 3 story slide. Oliver was all over it. I’ve never seen him giggle so much before. After watching her brothers a couple of times, Piper Ann even wanted to do it. After 3 or 4 times Ricardo called it quits because he was tired of climbing up all the stairs to the start of the slide as I waited at the bottom.
Of course there were no naps today, but hopefully they’ll sleep in tomorrow…I won’t hold my breath.
VBS Update
So, today was day two of me teaching the 2 year olds at VBS.
Its not really that bad. Its a lot more exhausting than I thought it would be. There’s also a lot more poopy diapers than I thought there would be. I really don’t like changing other kids poopy diapers. Between 3 kids and a dog, I deal with enough poop on a daily basis.
I only have 2 days left. Ricardo took the day off on Friday, so we’re playing hooky. He wants to take the fam to Six Flags. I’m not sure how I feel about that yet. I’m afraid its going to be a day of me entertaining the little kids while he and Nathan ride rides. It will probably be 105 with 8000% humidity. Yeah.
I’ve been tagged for a meme about my quirks. I haven’t forgotten. I just can’t think of my quirky traits right now. Those of you who know me are probably laughing because I probably have a lot, but my brain is numb right now. Stay tuned.
Online Billpay
I’m always a little behind the times when it comes to technology.
Its usually because I’m waiting for the price to come down on stuff.
I didn’t have a cellphone until 2003. My digital camera is 5 years old. My computer printer isn’t that old, but its not very good. The monitor of my computer is almost 8 years old. I love the way it twitches. Lap top? Not so much.
So it wasn’t until stamps went up to $.42 (what happened to the “cents” sign on the keyboard?), that I started to consider online billpay. I’m a huge check floater, but those days are over. I’m so nervous, but today I bit the bullet and have a couple of bills pending to be paid after Friday.
What am I going to do with all the money I save on stamps? Hopefully not pay off my overdraft account!
Work It Baby
Here are some posed pictures of Piper Ann after her recital.
It was so cute. I had to stop myself from doing what Nathan calls the “happy cry.” At least its not the “ugly cry!”
