Hobby Hump Day-Pillowcase Dress
I had a drawer full of vintage pillowcases that I intended to use as is. I came across this tutorial and decided to make this instead.
Its a few sizes too big for Piper Ann. I thought it was so adorable that I tried to wear it as a shirt, but it wouldn’t fit over my giant chest. Te he he.
Happy Anniversary, Ricardo!
Its our bronze anniversary…8 years.
Here are some pictures of that glorious day…
In other news…
*I’m no longer allowed to hug Nathan when he gets off the bus until it drives away.
*Oliver had his first day of Parents Day Out today and he cried on and off for the entire 5 hours. He kept saying, “you came back to get me, you came back to get me.” Poor little guy!
* Don’t forget about Hobby Hump Day tomorrow!

Things I Love Thursday-Archer Farms
If you’re unaware, this is Target’s specialty food line.
My kids love their fruit leather that is actually made with fruit. They were on sale this week 2 for $5. We got 20 organic fruit leathers, that I told my kids were fruit roll ups, for $5. Not bad.
Hobby Hump Day
I’m creating a new bloggy carnival where we can all show off our creative sides. Don’t be scared off by this. Feel free to share anything that may consist of being creative or being a hobby.
I will try to have the Hobby Hump Day posted sometime on Tuesday night, but bear with me. Don’t forget to leave me a comment!
On with it…
A good friend of mine’s sister is having twins, Finnegan and Cooper, here’s what I made for them…
Here’s a closeup of the applique I did on one square. Obviously the other one has a “C” on it. I cheated and tied off the quit instead of hand or machine quilting it.
Pleasant Surprise
While we were shopping at Target today, I picked up a multi-pack of miniature cereal boxes from General Mills to look at the ingredients. I was pleasantly surprised that only one of the kinds of cereal had high fructose corn syrup in it…Trix. Other than that they were sweetened (overly, I admit, but still) with sugar and or honey. Imagine that.
Maybe these companies are starting to catch on.
I have a feeling that the corn industry has these companies by the balls. Why else wouldn’t they be marketing High Fructose Free?
Daisy Crazy
Tonight is the birthday party for the twins next door who are turning 4. Instead of spending a bunch of money, I looked through my fabric and came up with this..
Its similar to the skirt I made here, but less involved. Its also reversible. The other side is pink orange yellow and green plaid.
I made a little purse for each of them with some scraps.
I found some boxes from the dollar store that came in a Christmas package, that were green with little white polka dots. I wrapped a brown satin ribbon around the top of the box and then added one of these flowers. This is how it turned out.
Because I already have so much money invested in all my crafting/sewing supplies, it didn’t cost me anything to make the skirts or wrap them.
First Day of School
So the first day of school almost went off without a hitch. I forgot to pack a snack for Nathan. I was just used to someone bringing snack for the entire class. To make up for it I baked him some blueberry muffins and put a little note in his bento box. When he got home today, he asked for more love notes.
Here are some pictures from the day…
Here’s the 3 of them in the annual 1st day of school driveway picture. Of course Oliver had to bring his backpack as well.
He’s a rockin’ Kindergartener .
Here’s my baby getting on the bus. I can’t believe he is so brave!
Things I Love Thursday-Napa Cabbage
We had dinner at some friends house a while ago and had tacos. Instead of lettuce, they offered Napa cabbage as a condiment. This isn’t the first time I’ve had cabbage on tacos before, but never Napa cabbage.
This is my favorite taco recipe.
I also plan to make this tonight. It has a Napa cabbage salad as a side.
Go here for more TILT.
Works for Me Wednesday-Paper Flower
This isn’t a super useful tip, its just super cute.
I saw this idea and modified it to call my own.
This is what I came up with…
I made the flower the same way, but poked the floral wire through the flower and threaded it through a couple of buttons. I wrapped the stem with floral tape and then attached a paper leaf to the stem.
I think I’m going to glue some flowers to a gift I have to wrap for this weekend.
Is anyone interested in a weekly crafting blogging carnival? Let me know!
