Things I Love Thursday

Apple butter cream cheese sandwiches.
After all the years of visiting my grandparents in the country this is the first time I’ve ever had apple butter. I didn’t know if I’d like it or not, because I have an aversion to cooked fruit.
I always buy it for the kids and put in on toast.
Eventhough I had no idea what it tasted like, I thought it might be good with cream cheese. Let me tell you, it is. Ricardo has been out of town all week and the kids have been surviving on them all week. They’ve had them for breakfast with a side of yogurt, they’ve had them for lunch with a little piece of banana, and they’ve had them for dinner with a side of a peanut/raisin mixture.
I bought some whole wheat English muffins today, so I could fancy them up for breakfast while my MIL is here this weekend.
Maybe my friend Nicole will share her crockpot recipe for apple butter, and then my friend Jen will show you how to can it.
My next fall experiment will be making pumpkin and applesauce doughnuts. We used to go to an orchard in Michigan that had the best and I’ve been craving them ever since. I’ll let you know how they turn out.

Now what isn’t good with cream cheese? My dad just made me some apple butter. I will try this!

I love apple butter so much that I will have it for lunch, and nothing else (on toast of course). I also picked up some pumpkin butter at Eckerts. It’s good but not AS good as apple butter.

I LOVE apple butter! You’re totally right, I need to do a post on canning it. It’s so yummy. Good luck with your applesauce and pumpkin donuts!
