Its Been A While

You know they say, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything.”

That’s why I’ve been on hiatus. I’m sure you people have better things to read than my pain, urinating and bowel problems.

I’m feeling a lot better and can almost comfortably sit at the desk chair without an egg crate. (its the small things)

As most of you know, I had to have a bladder sling put in as well as vaginoplasty (don’t google it, because the pictures aren’t pretty. Its basically putting everything where it should be). It was pretty major surgery that landed me an extra 2 days in the hospital, because they hit an artery and I was peeing blood.

The last few days out of the hospital I’ve been retraining my bladder how to empty on its own. In the meantime I have to fully empty my bladder through a superpubic catheter. Basically it serves the same function as a urethral catheter but its connected to my bladder through a man made hole in my abdomen. Sounds lovely, eh? Its not, and we will never be friends.

I’m actually really close to getting it removed. Thank goodness. The kids can’t sit on my lap because of the catheter and I also can’t hold them, because I can’t lift more than 10 lbs for the next month. I hate not being able to cuddle with them.

I’m so glad to have happier pain freer days coming up! I can’t wait to be able to drive next week!

Oh, and if you were wondering…Milk of Magnesia (although absolutely disgusting) works wonders against those constipating narcotics:)

Buggie Lou

Yesterday was my “baby’s” 3rd birthday. It was a crazy day that consisted of not one, but two all-you-can-eat pizza/salad bar buffets along with video games.

Swap

I finished the beanbags, so I would be sure to get them mailed before Tuesday.

I think they turned out really cute. I especially like the red and purple combo which I thought I would hate.

I’ve made a couple sets of beanbags over the last few months. Piper Ann has been begging me for her own set, but my machine and I will be getting worked on at the same time! We both need a little tune up.

Check out my swap partner Gail at Crafty Little Beana. She’s a fellow Missourian too!

Things I Love Thursday

(This is going to be a pictureless post. For some reason my camera won’t transfer pictures to my pc.)

I swear there’s no need for an intervention, but yes another “Things I Love Thursday” about alcohol.

I love my new vodka infuser that I got from my aunt for Christmas. It came as a gift pack with a bottle of Level vodka. (If you google Level Vodka Infuser, you can get a visual.) She also included a couple pomegranates, red naval oranges, 2 martini glasses, and a bottle of peppermint schnapps (because I also love peppermint).

I infused vodka with the oranges first and made my beloved blood orange martinis with it.

Next I infused some vodka with the pomegranates. I thought pomegranate martinis would be redundant with pomegranate infused vodka. We had some grapefruit soda that we intended to mix with plain vodka lying around, so I mixed that with the pomegranate vodka. It was fabulous. Ricardo and I tore through that in no time at all!

If you didn’t have grapefruit soda, you could probably just use grapefruit juice and soda water. It might be a little bitter, though.

Cheers!

On a side note, I guess I need to clarify the hoisting of my womanhood. Don’t confuse the much wanted boob job with the much needed bladder sling and prolapse surgery:)

Works for Me Wednesday

This post is really going to knock your socks off!

Piper Ann needed a different way to store her clips. We’re currently growing her bangs out, so they are a necessity.

I tied a piece of ribbon around her doorknob and clipped them to it. Pure genius!

I’m being facetious, btw, but it really does work for us.

Hobby Humpday

Bird and Little Bird is hosting a toy swap to help “Save Handmade.”
I’m participating by making beanbags.

dscn0630
dscn0631

dscn0632 They’re still not quite finished and I also plan on making a number 5 and 6.
I did a sort of reverse applique for the numbers and dots. I drew the numbers (in reverse) and dots on the back of the contrasting fabric. Then stitched around the lines. Then I cut out the fabric between the stitching on the beanbag fabric to expose the contrasting fabric.
I thought these would also be cute spelling out a childs name.
You don’t have to have a blog to participate, so head on over if you’d like to swap a handmade toy.
Now is your chance to play along!

Stuff

This is a picture of what I got for my birthday.

dscn0629

Obviously the Ipod Nano was my “real gift.” The other stuff was picked out by the kids from the dollar section at Target.

I thought it was so cute. Piper Ann picked out the “Girls Rock” sleep mask, so I wouldn’t have bad dreams. Awww.

Now I just have to figure out how to use the darn thing. I do have an Ipod shuffle that was a hand-me-down from Ricardo when he got his 8 gig or whatever it is. I loaded music on it once an never hooked it up to a computer again.

Any advice on downloading music etc. would be greatly appreciated! I expect lots of tips from hotomom!

Ridemakerz

I was asked to review Ridemakerz. Think Build-A-Bear, but a lot less cuddly! I was actually excited about this concept, because Nathan always bugs me to go to Build-A-Bear. I just think he’s too old to spend a million dollars on a stuffed animal. Although, my brother made one with him and he sleeps with it every night. Go figure.

Let me start off by stating that I spent $90 for 2 cars. Obviously, the money didn’t come out of my pocket, so I let them upgrade on almost everything.

There aren’t stores everywhere. We just happen to be going to Chicago, so I brought along my giftcard. Don’t worry you can customize your ride online also.

First of all you choose your body. They have everything ranging from Mini Coopers to Mustangs, to dump trucks. The prices for the bodies range anywhere from $10 to$25.

Then you can choose to upgrade your sound. All of the cars come with sound and the boys chose to keep what came with their car. Next you can choose to keep a normal chassis or upgrade to “monster.” I was certain the boys would want to upgrade their chassis, but they didn’t.

After the chassis comes the wheels. There are standard wheels that come with the car, or you can upgrade to colored treads on the tires. Both the boys upgraded their tires. Oliver chose a dumptruck, so the tires are visible, therefore worth the extra money. However, Nathan chose a hot rod and you can’t see the tires unless you flip the car over. That upgrade wasn’t worth it, since you can’t see them.

Next they upgraded their hubcaps, of course there are standard hubcaps that come with it.

Let me add this…when choosing a chassis you can also choose to motorize your car. In other words, make it a remote controlled car. This bumps up the price $25.

Then we moved on to the wall of decals. We chose one package to split, because there were a lot of stickers on one sheet. Nathan chose an engine to stick out of the hood and Oliver chose a silver dumper for his dump truck. I wasn’t impressed with the engine. It falls off really easily, because its only held on by a magnet.

Next my dad and I got to assemble them. They timed us and I lost, but it was fun. Next they got to name their cars and print out a bumper sticker. Here’s a shock, Nathan named his car Star Wars.

Here are some pics of the boys with their cars.

I would say its definitely worth checking out Ridemakerz. If it was on my bill, I would have let them pick out a car and one upgrade and probably would have walked out of there $40 poorer instead of $90.

After you build your car, you can also buy add ons instead of making a whole new car. For instance, Olivers car could also be converted into a firetruck.

Strange Request

After I picked up Piper Ann from school, Oliver requested to watch a “kid show.”

Piper Ann “piped” in and said, “no, I want to watch the show where the girls get roses.”

Yep, she was referring to the Bachelor. Although I could bond with her over some trash TV, do I really want her watching that? Probably not.

Luckily I deleted Mondays episode, so she might forget about it before next Monday. Lets hope!
