Crisscross Applesauce

(two in one day, I’m trying to make up for the holidays)

So the Binders came to visit us this past weekend. Her son AP is Nathan’s best friend. When he walked in the door, it was like 8 months hadn’t passed. Off they went. They were inseparable for 4 days. It was exhausting to watch. From the time they woke up until the time they went to bed they were in motion.  Nathan never even asked to watch TV. This is quite a feat.

So back to doing everything together… We decided to let them share a room and have a 4 night sleepover. I can’t believe how well it went.  They even shared a twin bed one night. I’m sure it had something to with them in constant motion for 12+ hours a day.

As we were getting ready to go on one of our sightseeing tours, we instructed the boys to use the bathroom. They complied. When Nathan came out of the bathroom he announced, “A.P. and I went Crisscross Applesauce in the toilet (crisscross applesauce is a term they used in preschool to sit cross legged.)” Sure enough their streams of pee mad a perfect “x” in the toilet. Although we tried to conceal our giggles it was impossible. Because every word that comes out of my 4 year olds mouth has to do with body parts or stuff that comes out of body parts, “crisscross applesauce,” eventually turned into “crisscross weiner sauce.” That too got a giggle from the moms. How can you argue with that. Essentially isn’t pee, weiner sauce?
