Giant Bites?

Oliver is having trouble with his fruits and veggies lately. Its extra frustrating for me, because before he turned 2 he ate everything.

I came across a coupon and a sale for Giant Bites ( I think that’s what their called.) They look like chicken nuggets, but they’re actually filled with vegetables and some extremely salty, not good for you sauce. I busted those out the other night during dinner. I made regular steamed broccoli for the health conscious in our family. Of course Oliver couldn’t get enough of the sodium laden “veggies,” but none the less he was eating broccoli for the first time in months.

Meanwhile, Nathan and Piper Ann were in complete disgust of what I was trying to pass off as deliciousness, that they were fighting over the remaining steamed broccoli and negotiated their way into fair portions. It made me proud, plus they also ate potatoes.

I know what you’re thinking…potatoes, big deal. My kids hate potatoes except in the french fried form. I hope this means that they’re coming around. We’ll see.

A Carb Loving Salesman

We’ve entered the terrible two’s here at the 3 in under 3 house.
Oliver won’t eat anything but bread, crackers, and sugary cereal. He also will absolutely not take “no” for an answer. This might benefit him later in life, but right now he’s making me crazy.

We have a daily episode of him following me around for what seems like hours crying, “caca” (cracker). Oh the joys of motherhood. He even imitates Piper Ann when she has meltdowns. Right now he’s crying, “yee yee, yee yee.” He’s really upset that we haven’t left to get Nathan from school yet.

I need a drink.

Happy Birthday Oliver!

It was 2 years ago last night that I went to the hospital to be induced into labor. When I got there they said I was already 3cm and 50% effaced. No need for cervical ripening!

You were born at 5:00 in the morning after I went from 6cm to 10 in about 20 minutes. Your dad had to make the emergency call to the nurses station and said, “somebody better get in here soon!” Its a good thing your shoulder was stuck (not so good at the time), otherwise you would have just fallen out. Your decention was so fast that you bruised your face as you fell through the birth canal. Lets just say you came out looking like a different race. On your bassinet there was a sign that said, “blue face,” so they wouldn’t think you stopped breathing.

2 days later we brought you home from the hospital, only to have to return 3 days later, because your billirubin  levels were too high.

Luckily everything turned out ok.

You are the sweetest little boy, and I love you very much!

The crib went back up

So, after Oliver had fallen out of bed for the 10th time, I decided to put the crib back up (as a toddler bed. The fall is a lot shorter). Now I’m going to have to say goodbye to it again in the future. Oh well.

I’m feeling chatty, so I have more blogging to come today. Stay tuned.

My baby’s all grown up

Last night was night two of “Oliver” sleeping in a big boy bed. Its so bittersweet for me. I’m glad to be moving out of the baby stage, but I’m also sad to say goodbye to the crib. I’m sure I’ll leave it up for a week or so.

He did fall out of bed last night. He’ll be the first one to need guardrails.

Its kind of crazy that he can sleep in a big bed, but only says like 20 words. Therapy here we come.

At “Nathan’s” conference last week, it was suggested that he needs therapy to develop fine and gross motor skills. Luckily it will be free through the school district.

That means all three kids will have needed therapy at some point in their lives. Woohoo! I grow ’em good!
